And if you’re a beer lover and people are asking you what you want, feel free to pass this on!
Gift Baskets They’ll Actually Love!
What’s better than a mix of beer, beer gear, and glassware? Only not having to buy those things for yourself. Gift baskets are named that for a reason; they are the perfect, pre-packaged, easy, quick-grab gift, and in this case, include only items people are truly going to love. While there are some great options online that can be shipped as gifts, we prefer to keep it local if at all possible. Here are a few of the great options around town:
Latitude 33 is having a killer deal that includes a shirt, glass, koozie, and a bottle of beer, all for only $25!! That would barely get you a t-shirt at some places!
North Park Beer Co.
North Park Beer Co. is offering two different gift packs; they are each $45 and you can choose either the growler or the bottle pack. Bonus! They both include some North Park swag. And we can never have enough of that!
Alesmith is doing a special giveaway with a unique gift basket every day from now until Christmas. Purchasing one of these also gets you into a drawing to win a sold-out, special edition bottle of Speedway Stout. This is a one of kind type of gift basket sale!
The Power of the Interwebs!
Beer of the month club: This seems to be a popular request; people wanting to try a few new beers every month, without having to go out and hunt it down for themselves. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. However, these subscriptions have also been criticized for being overly expensive and impractical due their lack of customization, and we have to agree.
Don’t be fooled into thinking you’re getting a great deal if you are planning to give this as a gift. Groupon, for example, is offering a deal with the option of 2, 3, 4, 6, or 12 months. You get one 12-pack each month and the price includes shipping, which breaks down to roughly $35/month, which truthfully, is cheaper than some other options, but pretty steep for only 4 different beers (you get 3 of each). So if you really do want to gift this, be sure to shop around first.
Personalized or blank growler: It’s a gift that keeps on giving, every time it gets refilled, making it the perfect gift for the craft beer lover who seems to already have everything!
A quick search on Etsy offers a multitude of options in many styles and customization levels (plus support for small businesses!). You can add a name, initials, or a favorite quote. As long as there isn’t a brewery or beer company on it, it should be able to be filled by any brewery that fills their own growlers. (You can call, or check the website of a particular brewery to find out about their growler policy.) This one does take some time a bit of planning, if you want to personalize it, so you better get on it quickly!
Nothing wrong with getting some beer!!
Beer lovers love beer, duh, but trying to get the perfect beer for them can be tricky. Luckily, here in San Diego, it’s pretty hard to go wrong. So, if you know the gift-getter has a favorite brewery, why not grab them a few bottles. There are a lot of special releases going on this time of year, so chances are, you can find something pretty special. Pure Project is constantly releasing new beers, Abnormal Beer Co. just announced new distributions, and Modern Times is releasing 5 cans/bottles this month alone; and they certainly aren’t the only ones.
If you don’t know if they have a go-to beer or brewery… or they’re like us and can’t pick just one favorite, make your own 6 pack. A lot of our local supermarkets and grocery stores have this option and they also have a good selection of local craft beers. Plus stores (grocery and liquor) often have extra savings and discount deals if you buy multiple bottles.
Of course, with all the chaos at the stores, shopping online is always a safe bet as well. Make your own mix from our online shop and we can deliver it right to your door in an hour; perfect for a last minute addition to your gift-list.
The Tried and True
Last but not least, nothing says “I tried… but I just didn’t know what to get you” quite like a gift card. They may have a reputation for being a bit generic, but a gift card to a local brewery or a bottleshop (like BottleCraft) is anything but. It’s free money for beer! And that’s a gift we can never have enough of. Even better, gift cards can be used for beer AND gear, so the options are pretty much endless.
As we head into the last shopping weekend before Christmas, we wish you a safe, painless shopping experience, Happy Holidays, and of course, cheers to great beers!
